What We Believe

Theological Positions

The Authority of the Scriptures

We believe that the scriptures are inspired by God through His Holy Spirit, without error, and provide the foundation for us to know God.

We believe, in accordance with 2 Timothy 3:16, that all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

We believe that the scriptures are both literal and literary requiring a proper application of context and original meaning to understand it.

We believe the scriptures act as a doorway into an experience to know Jesus Christ intimately and follow Him in all of our life. They serve as the foundation, not the ceiling. We see this when Jesus tells the Pharisees that “they seek the scriptures for eternal life” but miss the One in front of them.

Who is Jesus Christ?

Jesus Christ is God’s Son. He is both fully man and fully God. He came in a real human body, walked earth, was seen and encountered by eyewitnesses.

He is God’s promised Messiah, the Christ. He is the Anointed One. He is the Lamb of the world who takes our sin away. He is the One who was, who is, and always will be. He is the King of God’s Kingdom, God’s firstborn, and beloved.

He is completely sinless, living a life without sin, and He perfectly revealed the Father God through His ministry on earth.

He is the One who baptizes with fire.

Jesus’ Death & Resurrection

Jesus’ blood and subsequent death on the cross is the final payment for sin, releasing God’s forgiveness towards all who receive Jesus.

Jesus was raised back to life, experiencing a bodily resurrection, by the power of the Spirit. He was seen by eyewitnesses and later ascended into Heaven, seated at the right hand of the Father.

Jesus’ death & resurrection restored man into a right relationship with God again, reversing the curse of the Garden where Adam sinned. Now, all who receive Jesus are no longer sinners but righteous because of God’s gift of salvation.

The Fall of Man & Earth’s State

When Adam sinned in the Garden, mankind came under the power of sin and the authority given to Adam transferred to Satan.

Earth, all of creation, and humans were now subject to the curse (Genesis 3).

We believe that earth exists in a fallen state, disconnected from God’s original intention. This includes mankind.

We believe that when Jesus died & resurrected He began the ministry of reconciliation bringing all things back into the original intention God had created it with. This includes restoring authority to mankind over Satan and the power of the sin. It also includes restoring creation and the earth.

We believe this is the ministry that Jesus has entrusted us with, where we are called to be faithful from generation to generation until He returns.

How to Receive Salvation

We believe that in order to be saved a person must believe in their heart that Jesus is God’s Messiah who paid their penalty of sin. We also believe they must confess this publicly out of their mouth, in accordance with Romans 10.

We believe that this process requires repentance to be truly effective.

We believe that salvation is act of grace, not of works. It’s something that a person cannot earn or work to make themselves worthy of. It’s a free gift from God through Jesus Christ.

We believe receiving this gift requires faith that begins within our heart and eventually produces outward proof with a changed lifestyle. Think of a seed in the ground that eventually produces a plant with fruit.

We believe it is strongly encouraged, but not required for salvation, to be water baptized and baptized in the Spirit.

The Identity & Role of a Christian

We believe that disciples of Jesus are no longer sinners. Instead they are righteous and holy. This does not mean they cannot sin. It means that their identity has changed.

We believe that Christians have authority to heal the sick, cast out demons, raise the dead, set the captives free, and operate in the supernatural power of God.

We believe that Christians are commissioned to do greater works than Jesus, including spreading the Gospel message to every nation on earth.

We believe that Christians are called to live in unity with each other, with love being the ultimate “glue” that binds us together.

We believe that Christians are called to lay our lives down in a God-type of love, demonstrated by Jesus.

Jesus as our model

We believe that Jesus is the model for what child of God, who is in a right relationship with God, and lives in truth can look like on earth.

He is the firstborn of many and He said that we would do greater works than Him. He invited us into power and abundant life.

We believe our standard is found in Christ and He has shown us what is possible as we live in tandem with the Father, filled with the Holy Spirit.

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is a person who Jesus baptizes us into.

We believe the Holy Spirit lives within every believer who experiences the baptism of fire and He teaches, guides, and convicts every believer.

We believe the Holy Spirit is our direct connection with Heaven, allowing us to commune with God on earth and have access to know what God is thinking, speaking, and feeling.

The Kingdom is Advancing

We believe that Jesus’ primary message was about the Kingdom of God. Often He announced the “Kingdom is near” or “at hand.”

We believe that Jesus initiated the advancement of the Kingdom of God upon the earth and has transferred that authority to the Church.

We believe that God’s Kingdom is both now but not yet. It is advancing through the faith of the Church. We believe it is within our calling to live a life of faith, pursuing the Kingdom of God, and seeing it established in every area of the Earth.

How the OT and NT reveal Jesus

We believe that the Old Testament provides countless prophetic pictures of Jesus Christ, God’s heart for His people, and His intention to restore them back to their original glory.

We believe that Moses, Aaron, Joshua, David, Job, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jonah, and many others serve as Christ-like figures.

We believe that Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promise to restore humanity and all of creation back to its original glory.

Hearing God’s Voice

We believe that God is constantly speaking today and that every believer is created to hear God’s voice.

We believe that God speaks in a variety of ways and that each believer is not “stuck” to only hearing God in one way.

We believe that God speaks through His Spirit, communicating to our Spirit.

We believe God, as a Father, desires to speak to His children.

We believe that the Scriptures provide a necessary training ground to learn God’s voice, nature, and character - but we believe that they do not limit His voice from speaking today. To further clarify, we do not believe that God will contradict His nature that is clearly revealed through Christ in the scriptures. We believe He will expound upon it and relate to us in our lives.

We believe that it’s important to have accountability in our lives when hearing the voice of God and that we need each other to see clearly what God is saying and doing.

We believe in the necessity of using the Scriptures to evaluate what we believe God is saying.

God’s Will To Heal

We believe that it is always God’s will to heal.

We believe that Jesus is the perfect representation and revelation of the Father, and He never turned someone away to be healed.

We believe that God does not reject healing people because it is “not their time” or “they need to learn a lesson” or it’s part of their “suffering.”

We believe that God partners with His children to release healing on the earth as a demonstration of the Kingdom of God - which is a form of preaching. We see this with Jesus’ ministry.

We believe the gifts of the Spirit are still in operation today for every believer, including healing and creative miracles.

We believe that it’s important to live with a sense of mystery regarding the times that we do not see a healing occur, not changing who God is to match our experience. We believe that it’s important to live with a constant expectation of God’s goodness, which includes healing.

We believe that salvation through Christ provides healing spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and PHYSICALLY!

End Times

We believe that Jesus will return in bodily form upon the earth to finalize the restoration of all things.

We believe in doctrine associated with partial preterist views. This includes the idea that the book of Revelation was originally intended to communicate the events of Nero, the Roman Empire, and the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD.

We believe that Christians are not called to live in fear of the end times but rather in the hope, joy, and expectation of God’s goodness about our future.

We believe that Christians are called to take territory for the Kingdom of God upon the earth, instead of shrinking back and waiting for Jesus to return.
